You don’t need a religion to do soul management

You don’t need a religion to do soul management, but having a sacred calendar certainly helps. Far from being an endless list of tasks, the Torah itself is a blueprint for management.Judaism, and especially Leviticus, wants us to build a civilization that prioritizes the parts of us that make us most human – our fragility, [...]

In times of flooding and other miseries

The summer of 2021 brought an enormous flood over Belgium and several other Western European countries. This weekend, the Torah brings a line of help as Tree of Life or Etz haChayim.

From the Primeval history of judgment to a story of hope

We are given God's Word in the Torah, to have a light of guidance and to have some good instructions to build up our lives and to help others to grow and join us on the path to the Elohim Hashem Jehovah.

15th of Av one of the two most auspicious days on the Jewish calendar

Our sages regarded the 15th of Av to be one of the two most auspicious days on the Jewish calendar (the other being Yom Kippur -- Talmud, Taanit 26b).

Translating Truth

Based on the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe Courtesy of MeaningfulLife.com Eight hundred years ago, Maimonides wrote to his translator, Rabbi Shmuel ibn Tibbon: “One who wishes to translate from one language to another by rendering each word literally and adhering to the original order of words and sentences . . . will end up with a translation that [...]

The True Translation

By Dr. Tali Loewenthal, Director of Chabad Research Unit, London, UK, and a frequent contributor to the Chabad.org weekly Torah reading section; based on the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. In our multinational society, translations are an important part of life. Ideally, they enable different peoples, who have totally different ways of thinking, to connect [...]

Second core value of Conservative Judaism opposite use of native tongue in Reform Judaism

Hebrew as the irreplaceable language of Jewish expression is the second core value of Conservative Judaism. According to them its existence is coterminous with that of the Jewish people and the many layers of the language mirror the cultures in which Jews perpetuated Judaism. It was never merely a vehicle of communication, but part of [...]

God letting us having a look into His Mind

When looking at the ancient writings which form the Kitvei HaKodesh we may notice how the Bore allows us to have a look into His Mind.

Secularisation and Assignments given for all people

In Western Europe the last two decades we have seen lots of people leaving their church, but also doubting the essence of God. People should know that God gave His Word not to have a creation of institutions or churches, but to guide mankind so that they could be liberated from all sorts of chains.

Moshe Rabbenu and Torat Moshe

Willing to communicate with mankind the Elohim giving them His Torah shot his arrows at mankind [y-r-h, "to shoot (an arrow),"] and gave them a first teacher or instructor of God's Laws, hence also often called Torat Moshe. Moshe not writing down a Fable or Fairy tale, but bringing a real life story of man or history of the peoples in an easy way to remember.

To shoot with words to bring man on the right track

Man created by the Elohim with a special intention, Him giving them His Torah [coming from the root y–r–h, “to shoot (an arrow)”] shooting at mankind to go deep into their heart.

Expectations for kashrut to meet individual and contemporary norms

At the origin of man the Divine Creator provided a world full of plants useful as food. Man was not so happy with it and wanted more variation and meat. God allowed such things but warned them about the good and bad meat or fish. God also gave man mitzvoth so that they could measure their wrong goings and should have a guide for their life. In his effort to play for God man has tried to muddle with genes and to create new hybrids. The understanding on genes and genomes, and ways to manipulate them has given many scientists extreme ideas, tending to distort and exaggerate the results or waving away the possible dangers for the next generations of plants and animals. Different kinds of risks, real benefits, aims and control systems are complicated and genuine discussion between people with different backgrounds is essential and should have to think very cautiously, wondering if we are not going to far. Not only genetic manipulation but also transporting food all over the world and producing it on industrial level should worry us and should make us to take the proper choice to protect the environment. Let us not forget that the Elohim wants us to be healthy – inside and out, living in a healthy clean environment always to know that a person is that what he eats.

Torah hanging on two commandments and focussing on a Mashiach

In the world of Christians and Muslims there are those who may think the Torah is not for them and that they do not have to keep to the Laws of God any more. Some even prefer to follow the laws of their religious group as if that is more important than following the Laws of the Set-apart Scriptures. The world received a Sent one from God who came to give the proper, God-intended interpretation of the Torah! People do have to come to recognise that sent one from God and have to follow his teachings, with the knowledge that he is the Way to God. That sent one from God also expressed his believe in his heavenly Father Who is the Divine Creator all should come to accept as their loving Father as well. He is The One Who knows our heart and Who has provided for us a manual for our life which also explains His Plan. That manual is the Torah, we all should to favour as our most important Guide for our life.

Not studying an abstract and arcane text of the ancient world

The Divine Creator provided the greatest tool to learn what we should know, to make the best of our life, with His infallible Word, collected in 66 books, whereby 25% of the text is focussing on a Mashiach or Messiah, a Saviour for all mankind. For some people it may look an arcane language of ancient times not useful any more for our contemporary world. The written collection of order, instruction, or guide, issued by an authority much higher than any living being on this earth, may for many be not easily understood, abstruse or obscure, because they just not want to listen to the words like they are written down but prefer to listen to human doctrines which may confuse lots of people and bring a lot of false teachings into the world. The Bible is not at all arcane, requiring secret knowledge to be understood. One does not have to have a degree in theology to come to understand God's Word. To get to understand it and to get wisdom one needs to read it regularly and has to study those words given by the Most High, giving more attention to them than to words of so called theologians who prefer to hold on to human doctrines instead of Biblical doctrines.

Reading to grow and to become wise concerning the most important thing in life 1 Times of reading

In ancient times on market days and the days people where free, they came together to listen to the reading of the Torah. Today any day could be used to come together to listen to the reading of the Holy Scriptures. Written and oral material was brought from one generation into an other and formed the base for the construction of many communities or religious groups and denominations.
